Psychometric Tools

Self-awareness is the foundation of behavioural effectiveness. Without this, it is difficult to accept that something about us may need to change. Understanding what we do and why we do things is a key philosophy that underpins our approach to development programs and individual coaching.

At PivotPlus, we use a number of profiling instruments to help our clients gain greater insights into themselves.

Find out your optimism level with SASQ

Could negative thought patterns be preventing employees from achieving their full potential? The Seligman Attributional Style Questionnaire (SASQ) is a measure of optimism and resilience under adversity.

The SASQ is based on 30 years of research by Professor Martin Seligman, a leading expert on the psychology of motivation and author of the national best-selling book Learned Optimism. Research on the SASQ scientifically proves the common sense wisdom that optimistic beliefs can be self-fulfilling prophecies.

The SASQ measures optimism by asking test-takers to answer a series of questions about their expectations for success and failure.

Measure organisational behavioural styles with DiSC

In the workplace, do people adapt to their environment, or do they try to change their environment? How can you identify different personality types and deal with people depending on their perception of the world?

The DiSC Personal Profile System measures an individual's behavioural response to their perception of their environment.

The DiSC behavioural model was developed by Dr. William Marston in the 1920s. Marston's theory was that people behave the way they do because of their perception of the environment and then respond accordingly. His early work has been tested and developed over the past forty years.

The Personal Profile System is one of the most reliable and valid learning instruments for understanding yourself and others. It has been used worldwide for over 30 years.

Life Styles Inventory 1 [LSI 1]

LSI 1 is the primary component in the Life Styles System developed by Human Synergistics, to maximise the effectiveness and potential for an organisation's most valuable asset - its people.

Based on a combination of respected psychological and measurement theories, the LSI 1 measures the thoughts and attitudes which motivate your behaviour, how you relate to others as well as how you solve problems and make decisions.

The greatest value of LSI 1 lies in the fact that no other self assessment tool actually reveals and measures the thinking and behavioural styles that help or hinder you in fulfilling your potential. You can use what you learn to initiate positive changes in how you think and act - changes that can increase your personal and professional effectiveness.

Life Styles Inventory 2 [LSI 2]

Measuring personal effectiveness through feedback, LSI 2 is the second level in the Life Styles System developed by Human Synergistics to develop the effectiveness of the individual.

Used in conjunction with LSI 1, the LSI 2 provides objective feedback on an individuals behaviour patterns as interpreted by others. You can combine these insights with what you know about yourself to more accurately assess your strengths - as well as areas in which you may want to improve. The LSI 2 provides a confidential, reliable method of gathering feedback and these results will enable you to identify more constructive ways of thinking as it pinpoints your own unique strengths, as well as any "stumbling blocks" to your effectiveness.

Everyone at some point in their professional development wonders how they are doing. Feedback plays an important role in this self realization process. As individuals, we have our own perceptions as to how effective we believe we are in the workplace. But the perceptions of others provide us with insights into behaviours that we may not be aware of.

Group Styles Inventory [GSI]

Like individuals, work groups have their own dynamics or styles of interaction. These styles are reflected in the way group members interact with one another and approach the task to be accomplished.

Organisations of every description can benefit from the GSI. The profile can be used by any temporary or intact work groups that interact to solve problems or make decisions. Through a process of self generated, practical feedback and group discussion, teams can understand how and why they behave in a particular way. This results in enhanced cooperation and communication, heightened innovation and stronger consensus. This in turn leads to better quality and greater acceptance of decisions.
